James Ehnes, the passionate young Canadian violinist poised to become one of the most important classical artists of the twenty-first century, performs works by Brahms, Bartók, Strauss, and Leclair on the exquisite “Ex Marsick? Stradivarius of 1715. “One of the most gifted and sincerely expressive artists to have emerged in recent times? (Daily Telegraph, London), Ehnes rides a wave of extraordinary critical acclaim into Portland, having garnered Grammy and Juno awards this year for best solo classical recording. He was also named recently as a Fellow of the Royal Society of Canada – at thirty-one, the youngest person ever to receive one of his nation’s highest accolades. Ehnes will perform to the deft accompaniment of pianist Andrew Armstrong.
